About this bot

In short: This online tool will send you an alert whenever your Google Analytics traffic metrics reach certain levels.

Traffic Alert Monitor checks the user activity on a given website and sends you the corresponding data at predetermined intervals.

This tool can notify you if the number of page views dips below – or, conversely, exceeds – certain thresholds. Alternatively, it can simply monitor the user traffic over a certain period.

This can be convenient for SEO experts and webmasters because, given a large number of resources to simultaneously monitor, it can be a bit of a hassle to track this data manually. Traffic Alert Monitor sends you notifications in case it detects a significant change in activity, identifying the resources that demand attention and highlighting the ones that show rapid progress.

Configuring Traffic Alert Monitor

After assigning a unique name to the task and choosing an output folder, you should fill in your Google Analytics data and choose a project, account and profile. Afterwards, you can finetune the tool by setting the following parameters:

  • whether the entire website or a certain page should be monitored;
  • the period over which you’d like to collect traffic data;

You can also configure the notifications and their content:

  • Metrics – users, new users, sessions.
  • Segment – total traffic, organic traffic, paid traffic generated by search systems, direct traffic, referral traffic.
  • Conditions – send a notification if the traffic exceeds or falls below the threshold.
  • Threshold – any whole number.

Required Google oAuth scope

In order for the bot to work, you must connect it to your Google Analytics account. To do that, you will need to grant it permissions to access and read your Google Analytics data using Google oAuth authorization screen.

Alert notifications

The next block of settings allows to set up the intervals at which you’d like to receive notifications. You can also choose whether the bot should hibernate automatically at a certain date or continue running until turned off manually.

Afterwards, you may choose your preferred way of receiving notifications:

  • e-mail;
  • Slack;
  • Telegram.

The final block allows to select the following checkboxes if needed:

Send notifications regardless of monitoring results – this means that you will receive periodic notifications even when the traffic remains within designated thresholds.

Terminate on detecting a problem – if the bot detects a threshold violation, it will automatically stop running after sending a corresponding notification.

Why Use Traffic Alert Monitor?

Monitoring a large number of web resources at the same time constitutes a very demanding task for SEO experts. Being preoccupied by large workloads, it is quite easy to miss important fluctuations in user traffic - this tool allows to avoid such attention lapses by sending notifications if it detects a sudden change in activity. This allows to quickly identify the problematic resources and optimize them or figure out the source of additional traffic if there’s a bump in activity.

To use this bot you need to register or log in first.
